Interim CIO/CTO: On occasion, a company unexpectedly finds itself without a CIO or CTO. This situation is both a problem and an opportunity -- a problem because you need the executive leadership for your IT or Technology group, but also an opportunity to effect change in the organization. In order to fill the executive void, probably the worst solution is to give an internal person "acting" powers until the "real" one can be found.
